Since last Thanksgiving I've had a pain... kidney area. I was told to drink water. I did. I spent more time in the bathroom but the pain was still there. Seven months later, when the pain moved lower I decided to call the doctor. Long story short, I had a kidney stone. Two weeks ago I went into the hospital, they knocked me out and laser blasted the kidney stone. By noon I was out of the hospital pain free and going about my normal daily duties. The piercing pain was totally gone and I could only feel a dull pain. Woohoo, I could clear out the dishwasher and carry the little ones pain free. What a blessing.
But take two. Little by little pain has been creeping back into my back. I thought it was sympathy pain, or I was just thinking so hard trying to find pain that it actually was evolving. Wednesday I had my post-op appointment. Guess what, a kidney stone is still there. I guess when they blasted it I was left with a good sized chunk that didn't turn into sand. The doctor reccomended to wait (6 weeks) and see if it breaks up and passes or I can go through the proceedure again.
Let me think... go through the proceedure that caused me no pain and no recovery time or wait in pain and pass a kidney stone. What silly options! I haven't called the doctor back to reschedule the proceedure, but as of this second that's the direction I'm leaning.
