I have a friend who reciently made a bucket list. If you haven't seen the movie, do. A bucket list is things you want to accomplish before you kick the bucket. It's a living list that can be added to or deleted from. My list does not contain "have to". Most items are things I've heard about and intrigue me. But when I have time, energy and money I know where to start checking things off.
My first and foremost priority is to do what I know is right - as an individual, wife and mother.
With that being said, here is my list:
Visit Holy Land
Hike ruins in South America
Canoe through the Amazon
See Grand Canyon from the bottom
Stay in an urtz – or however it’s spelled
Visit Ireland
See Niagara Falls
Visit Egypt
Hot air balloon
Swim with dolphins
White water rafting
Go on a cruise with family
Pay off all debt
Lose weight
Have vacation property
Visit all temples
Shower in a waterfall
Road trip across US
See northern lights
Experience “no night” in Alaska
See Stonehenge
Whale watching
Go on a week long hike
Attend rugby game and understand it
Cruise Mediterranean
See Greece
Go on a safari in Africa
Run a 5K
Decorate the house the way I want it
Stay in a hut over the water in Tahiti/Bora Bora
Always have a valid temple recommend
Serve a mission with David
Keep my part of the covenant
(I encourage you to try it too, it's refreshing. Use this website to get you started: www.bucketlists.wetpaint.com)

and the answer is...
I called David (he was asleep with the little ones) and asked him what to do. After I rehearsed all the options that failed he said "cram them in the car, say a prayer and come home". I was still worried about the weight, the brakes that he had just changed that morning and mostly about being illegal (see what happens when you get old, your conscience starts to work!)
I really didn't have another option. We crammed. We prayed. We made it home safely and prayed again.
The adventure was the talk at church and when the bishop came up and put his hand on my shoulder, I thought I was dead. I wasn't. He just wanted to chat about Seussical. Again! Didn't we finish that 4 months ago?
Now, what lessons did I learn? Hmmm...

Let's say...
Let's say you make arrangements with another parent to drive one way to a dance about 45 minutes away over a mountain pass. When you dropped off your child at their house there are three kids to be driven. You asses the situation and decide to pick them up in the car but at 11pm, when you arrive at the dance there are actually 8 kids (4 girls and 4 boys) that need a ride home and you have 4 squeezy spaces - it's a Honda. What would you do? I'll cross off a couple of options for you... No other parent is willing/available to come and pick up kids and everyone else at the dance from our side of the mountain already has a full van going home.
Let me know what you would have done, and then I'll tell you what actually ended up happening. Although, maybe by tomorrow this won't seem as serious as it did tonight.
